Rustic-looking, handcrafted coffee ground soap bars

DIY Coffee Soap Bars in Five Easy Steps

Coffee grounds are well known for their benefit on skin: they can exfoliate, help with texture, improve circulation and the appearance of cellulite, and they have anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, coffee soap bars are an excellent option to add to your body skincare routine when you take a shower, and the best thing about them is that you can do your own at home with just a few ingredients and without breaking the bank.

I decided to start doing my own because I realized it was inexpensive, takes only a few minutes to make, and I could repurpose those post-brew coffee grounds (yay for less waste!). Additionally, you do not need to use the oven and this is completely mess free, which just makes it better.

Ingredients:

  1. 1/4 cup of coffee grounds
  2. A big kitchen knife (to cut the soap base into small pieces)
  3. 1 pound of soap base
  4. 1/4 tsp of essential oil/fragrance
  5. A Silicon mold
  6. A microwave-safe bowl

Instructions:

  1. Cut the soap base into small chunks and place them into the bowl.
  2. Place coffee grounds into the bowl.
  3. Microwave for one minute, stir and microwave again for another minute. Repeat until fully melted (if necessary).
  4. Stir for a minute and add essential oil or fragrance while stirring. I like to use 1/4 tsp of eucalyptus essential oil and a few drops of coffee essential oil too, just to add extra coffee fragrance. You can use any essential oil/fragrance you like.
  5. Pour mix into the silicone soap mold and wait for it to fully cool. It may over an hour.

And that is it! As simple as that. You can even use different silicon molds with beautiful designs. I like to use this rose mold for smaller soap bars too.
